We’re in the middle of a global pandemic yet amidst the panic, shutdowns, and shelter-in-place activities being implemented across the world, we remain inspired.
Are we crazy? No.
Are we optimistic? Hell yes.
Right now, we as brand-engagement-fanatics have the opportunity to help brands like you to find creative, informative, and helpful ways to communicate your story with the world. We’re excited to see brands step up and exhibit some agility, whether it’s promoting a new product or service or changing their messaging to better speak to the current climate. Now is not the time to stop talking to your customers, now is the time to market.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
In this unprecedented pandemic, brands who are flexing their agility and finding creative ways to continue to meet the needs of their customers (or finding ways to help new customers) are the brands that will survive what’s ahead.
Locally, we’re seeing mom-and-pop shops and restaurants band together to provide new modes to take-out service and grocery delivery to keep their doors open. We’re seeing manufacturing companies take their current materials and find ways to repurpose and create new products that are in high demand—for example, a plastics manufacturer is now focusing nearly all of its energy on medical masks and gloves to distribute to healthcare facilities. A local distillery has paused normal operations to utilize its facilities to distill alcohol solely for the purpose of making hand sanitizer.
Think about what your customers and your community need right now, and find a way to meet those needs through your products or services. You’ll maintain brand awareness and potentially find new customers (who will remain loyal long after this is over!).
Cut the red tape.
Operations managers, marketing teams, and your entire team needs autonomy right now. There’s not enough time to maneuver through your normal internal processes and procedures, and frankly, these aren’t normal times. Find a way to work through your process with agility and remove any rules or roadblocks you possibly can. In this landscape, brands who work quickly are going to win.
Cut through the bullshit and give people what they need.
Consumers’ threshold for marketing bullshit was already low… now it’s in the sub-zeroes.
We’ve seen countless emails from brands announcing “Our COVID-19 Statement”. We hate to break it to you, but your customers don’t need another email about how your employees are washing their hands or working from home. Your customers want you tell them exactly how your brand is going to continue to meet (and exceed) their needs.
We’re not saying that you should cease call communications (PLEASE don’t do that!)
COMMUNICATE. And then communicate it again.
We’re now weeks into the COVID-19 pandemic, and if your website isn’t updated with your updated operating hours and relevant product/service information, and you haven’t sent out digital communications about how your business plans to meet your customers’ evolving needs, you should probably book a meeting with us.
